Maintenance Session

The system will be unavailable from 7am on the 11th of January until 5pm on the 12th of January 2021. There will also be no access to files during this period. This outage will allow us to perform essential upgrades to the datacentre in anticipation of the new project filesystem being installed in the following months. Please let us know (help@hpc.kaust.edu.sa) should this cause any concerns.

RCAC meeting

The project submission deadline for the next RCAC meeting is 31st January 2021. Please note that the RCAC meetings are held once per month. Projects received on or before the submission deadline will be included in the agenda for the subsequent RCAC meeting. The detailed procedures, updated templates and forms are available here: https://www.hpc.kaust.edu.sa/account-applications

Tip of the week: CrayPE multi-thread compilers options

Cray Programming Enviroment (CrayPE) supports link line generation for the multi-threaded versions of the LibSci library based on the OpenMP option the user specifies with each compiler.

  • Cray Compiler, CCE (since 9.0.x and later) uses dynamic linking by default and links to the serial version of the LibSci library. CrayPE will link-in the OpenMP version of LibSci when the CCE flag -h omp (Fortran) or -fopenmp (C, C++) is used.
  • GNU by default links to the serial LibSci library. CrayPE will link-in the OpenMP version of LibSci when the gcc flag -f openmp is used.
  • INTEL by default links to the serial LibSci library. CrayPE will link-in the OpenMP version of LibSci when the Intel flag -qopenmp is used.
