Introduction

The Shaheen (شاهين), also known as the Peregrine Falcon, is the fastest living creature on Earth.  As a bird of prey a Shaheen is capable of reaching speeds in excess of 320 km/h (200 mph); as namesake for KAUST's supercomputing resource it serves as an icon for the tremendous speed of computation possible.

Shaheen II debuted at #7 on the TOP500 list during the June 2015 International Supercomputing Conference. Shaheen is the most powerful supercomputer in the Middle East with its primary Cray XC resource capable of 7.2 Peraflops peak (5.5 sustained).

We hope that the Supercomputing Laboratory has a meaningful and positive impact in your research activities.  Please contact us at <help@hpc.kaust.edu.sa> if we can improve your experience in any way. If you are at the KAUST campus, we welcome you to visit us at our offices on Level 0 of Building 1 (West), directly across from the dining hall.

Welcome to the Supercomputing Laboratory.
